Norad
The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) is an administrative and professional body responsible for international development assistance on behalf of Norway. It plays a central role in supporting the implementation of Norwegian development policy.
Working closely with partners, Norad contributes to advancing a greener future in a world without poverty, with a strong emphasis on human rights and inclusive development. Through evidence-based approaches, knowledge sharing, and collaboration, the agency ensures that Norwegian aid funding delivers meaningful and measurable impact in global development.
Norad operates under the authority of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In matters relating to climate and forest initiatives, it also reports to the Ministry of Climate and Environment. Its responsibilities are defined through formal mandates and funding allocations from these ministries.
The agency manages grants for long-term development programmes and humanitarian assistance, and provides strategic and administrative advice to both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Climate and Environment.
