Jossias Alberto Duvane

SpecialityLecturer and Researcher: Department of Biological Sciences, Eduardo Mondlane University

Jossias Alberto Duvane holds a PhD in Marine Biology and Environmental Sciences from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He also holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) in Maputo, Mozambique.

He has over 10 years of experience in marine and coastal research, including studies on the local adaptation of marine invertebrates in the context of global change, the diversity and connectivity of tropical coral reefs, and the biological impacts of ocean acidification.

He is currently collaborating with international researchers to establish an international experimental study on the biological impacts of Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE). This initiative emerged from the Training Course on “Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement — Assessing the Impacts on Marine Organisms”, organised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Marine Environment Laboratories, Monaco (2025).

Currently, he is a Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Biological Sciences at Eduardo Mondlane University, where he teaches Genetics, Molecular Biology Techniques, and Evolutionary Biology.
