Maryke Musson
Maryke Musson is a marine scientist and Blue Economy practitioner with three decades of international experience across ocean conservation, sustainable aquaculture, and science communication.
Her work spans from Antarctic expeditions to Iceland’s pioneering land-based aquaculture sector. She has held leadership roles across the global seafood and aquarium sectors and is currently based at the South African Association for Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR), where she leads conservation, education, and strategic partnerships supporting ocean stewardship and innovation.
Maryke brings a systems perspective to the Blue Economy, specialising in sustainable aquaculture systems, animal welfare, alternative feeds, and circular blue economy innovation, and contributes to ocean-impact initiatives through mentoring and advisory roles with organisations such as OceanHub Africa.
