German Development Cooperation

SpecialitySession Sponsor

German Development Cooperation refers to Germany’s comprehensive approach to international development, led by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in partnership with implementing organisations such as GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and KfW Development Bank. It represents one of the world’s largest bilateral development cooperation systems, working across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe.

The cooperation focuses on promoting sustainable economic development, climate action, good governance, and social inclusion. Through technical assistance, financial cooperation, and strategic partnerships, Germany supports countries in addressing global challenges such as poverty, inequality, environmental degradation, and economic resilience.

German Development Cooperation works closely with governments, the private sector, civil society, and international organisations to co-create solutions that are locally relevant and globally impactful. Its approach emphasises long-term partnerships, capacity development, and knowledge exchange, ensuring that development outcomes are sustainable and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
